Yorick’s obsession with electronic music started all the way back in 1994, locking himself in the studio to cut his very first beats on an Atari ST. But it was behind the decks where he truly exploded onto the scene. He built a massive reputation as a resident DJ at the legendary Belgian club The-Site, a residency that firmly put his name in the spotlights. Known for his highly energetic, boundary-pushing sets, Yorick was championing a heavily varied sound long before the scene officially labeled it ‘freestyle’. From jump and hardstyle to hardcore—if it had a killer melody, he played it.
That explosive energy took him all across the map, locking down residencies at Zino and Q-nation, and leaving a serious footprint at iconic venues and festivals like Complex, Club X, Highstreet, Sunglow, and Daylight. While he crushed dancefloors for years, his studio game evolved just as fast. Starting with his official debut vinyl, The DJ Yorick Experience, on VIP Records in 2006, he went on to drop tracks on renowned imprints including Basic Movement and Megarave Records—not to mention a strong catalog of releases on his very own imprints, iLektrik, Wicked Soundz, and Label X.
Fast forward to today, and Yorick is still refusing to be boxed into a single genre. While club gigs are now rare, highly exclusive exceptions, his production engine is running at full throttle. As the label boss behind Wicked Soundz, iLektrik, and Label X, he keeps pushing boundaries. His deep-rooted love for massive melodies naturally led to the release of his very first progressive trance album this year—yet he’s simultaneously broadening his horizon across the wider EDM spectrum. Armed with over three decades of experience, Yorick keeps moving, adapting, and creating exactly what he wants.
